N. D. Cass Company
Athol, Massachusetts
1898 - 2003
In their many years of business, they manufactured a wide range of
products from large pianos and drums to a popular wooden toy line called
“The Funny Face Family” of toys. In 1950, N.D. Cass Co purchased the
Fred Langfelder Corporation of New Jersey taking N. D. Cass into
manufacturing children’s pianos. In their later years, they
specialized in chalk boards and children’s furniture. On May 16th,
1996, their warehouse burned to the ground. The blaze was so large that
people had to be evacuated from their homes. Most of Cass’ toys are
trucks and automobiles, but they did produce a few pull toys.
Notice: ND Cass Co. in Athol, MA burned to
the ground in a spectacular fire Thursday night, January 19, 2012.
The address is 62 Canal street. Ironically the current fire chief,
Tom Lozier, is the younger brother of the fire chief in 1996.
