Fisher-Price Toys, Incorporated East Aurora, New York 1930 – Present Fisher Price vintage toys have a unique history. Many Antique Fisher Price toy collectors may not be aware of how the company got its start as one of the leading toy manufacturers in America. In 1930, after an unsuccessful attempt to purchase All-Fair Toys and Games, Herman Fisher joined Irving Price, Irving’s wife, Margaret Evans Price and, a silent partner, Helen Schelle to create Fisher-Price. At the time, Irving Price also served as mayor of East Aurora. Margaret Evans Price served as the first art director and designed toys for the opening lines. Margaret, in her own right, was well known as an author of children’s books and an illustrator. Many of their first toys reflected Margaret’s book characters and designs brought from All-Fair Toy and Games. Fisher Price has grown to be one of the world’s most well known toy companies, and Fisher Price vintage toys and antique toys are some of the most sought after among antique toy collectors. |
