Articles
about the Humpty Dumpty Circus:
Jim has an article showing how
the Schoenhut circus reflects the
American circus of that time.
Did you know that
the Schoenhut Hobo is a circus clown? Or that the Schoenhut Negro Dude is a minstrel? See why in Jim's
article - The American Circus. Click
here to read it.
Judith Lile has an article about her favorite Schoenhut circus
pieces. Read
it here.
Jim has three new articles: "The Eyes of the
Schoenhut Circus"
describing the
glass-eyed, painted-eyed, and decaled-eyed animal varieties, the
Humpty Dumpty Elephants, and "Displaying
the Circus" showing ideas for showing off your circus.

Reproductions
Often, Humpty Dumpty circus items are
offered for sale or at auction that were not made by the original Schoenhut
Company of Philadelphia. We have even seen Schoenhut copies made in China - pretty
bad looking stuff! However, the Delavan Company of Seneca Falls, New York obtained the
rights to produce the Humpty Dumpty circus and did so between 1950 and 1952. To
see photos of this reproduction circus and others, go to Schoenhut
Reproductions.
Schoenhut
Non Circus Toys
The A. Schoenhut made many toys other
than its famous circus over its years of production. We are compiling a list of
these toys with descriptions. Click here.
O. Schoenhut
We are compiling information about the
O. Schoenhut company who made toys starting in the late 1930s. See where we are here.
