Holgate
Brothers Company Kane, Pennsylvania 1789 (woodworking), 1929 (started making toys) According to the Holgate Toy Company history on their web page, Holgate can trace back their company to its founding in 1789. The web page also shared, “In 1929, Holgate was one of the first toy companies in the U.S. to research and develop the educational, preschool toy market for children. Holgate worked closely with the early educators in the emerging Kindergarten program to develop safe, educational toys that had play value.” Holgate toys are simple in design, near indestructible, and are mass produced. Vintage Holgate toys are common in the resale market. Holgate vintage toys have their strongest value when there are sets, when all of the parts are with the toy, and/or when the toy makes a strong visual display. |
