Wilkening Manufacturing Company
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Toy manufacturing estimated 1955 - 1960

Wilkening Manufacturing Company, a piston ring manufacturing, needed another use for their rings when sales started to decline due to the rings lasting longer. About the same time, James Industries was hitting the market with a great toy that utilized these materials. Wilkening’s toy designs were very similar to James Industries. They filed for a patent on the “slinky” design in the 1950’s. In 1957, they received the licensee to produce Three Stooges finger puppets, novelty Kazoo and walking spring toys. We were unable to find reference to Wilkening toys after 1958.

Wood Commodities Corporation
New York, New York
Estimated 1943 - 1946

Most of the references we could find about Wood Commodities Corporation was concerning their war jeeps, tanks, cannons, and other war toys. They also produced some unique wooden pull toys for the younger children. We did find where they had applied for a patent on their Little Jasper toy in 1944. George Pal, a pioneer at the time in special effects with Paramount Pictures, designed the Little Jasper toy.
